ANC 91st anniversary Western Cape celebrations

7 January 2003

Tomorrow the ANC will be celebrating its 91st Anniversary. The celebrations take place after the successful 51st National Conference, hosted by the Western Cape in Stellenbosch.

The NEC has declared 2003 as the Year of People`s Power in Action - Pushing back the frontiers of Poverty - Phambili MaVolontiya!

This is a direct call on the ANC to mobilise all of our people, to bring about a better life for especially the poor, women, youth, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. We are also confronted with many new challenges, including the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

We enter this year, mindful of the challenges ahead. But we also enter this year knowing that we will have to do much preparation for the elections next year - the year of ten years of freedom.

The ANC Western Cape will be celebrating with a public rally on Wednesday 8 January, 18h00 in the OR Tambo Hall, Mew Way, Khayelitsha.

Transport Minister Dullah Omar is to be the key speaker at the meeting, which will include some local cultural acts.
