ANC Western Cape mobilises for peace

27 March 2003

The ANC Western Cape is mobilising for peace and will be staging mass protest demonstrations together with other organisations to demonstrate our disapproval of the USA`s war against the people of Iraq.

Today (Thursday 27 March), ANC public representatives will be staging a placard demonstration during lunch-time (12pm) in Adderley Street, in front of the St. George`s Cathedral and the Provincial Legislature (in Cape Town). This will include Members of Parliament, Members of the Provincial Legislature, City Councillors, National and Provincial Ministers.

Later in the afternoon from 18h00, ANC branches in Cape Town will be staging a placard demonstration in front of the American Embassy on the Foreshore.

This will culminate in a mass march on Saturday 29 March. ANC members in their masses will join thousands others from Cosatu and its affiliates, WP Council of Churches, Muslim Judicial Council and many other organisations committed to peace.

The march will start from 10h00, from Kaizergracht Street, District Six, Cape Town, and will proceed through the streets of Cape Town to the US Embassy.

As agents for peace, the ANC and its allies will continue to work alongside many other organisations in the interest of the people of Iraq.
