ANC condolences to Maseko family

18 March 2002

ANC Western Cape Provincial Secretary Mcebisi Skwatsha today conveyed his condolences to the family of the late Sipho Maseko.

Said Mr Skwatsha: "On behalf of the ANC I want to express our heartfelt condolences to the family of Sipho Maseko.

"Comrade Sipho is an old friend. I have vivid memories of him during the 80`s as a colleague at UWC. Though we belonged to rival organisations he Azasco and I Sansco he was an opponent whose views one always respected. A humble patriot indeed."

"We will always remember him for his commitment to the country and the province. But most of all we will miss his incisive comments about the political developments of the day.

"He was an astute commentator and always fair and precise in how he viewed developments in the country.

"This is not only a loss for the family, but a loss for the whole province and country, the academic community and students.

"We say farewell to a builder, academic, thinker and patriot."
