The ANC provincial office in Athlone was today inundated with calls from members of the public who want to become police reservists. The call to posters which went up in the CBD saying "MAKE OPERATION GOOD HOPE WORK - BECOME A RESERVIST. PHONE ANC AT 6967510."

Commenting on the response, ANC PROVINCIAL LEADER EBRAHIM RASOOL SAID:

"I am greatly encouraged by the response to our call determined to assist in making operation Good Hope work.

" The response indicates that our communities are prepared to get involved in the fight against crime and terror. This must take place within the framework of the law and becoming a reservist is a concrete way of getting involved.

"Good Hope will work if it is able to win the support of the community. That is why we are suggesting that a compaign do introduce Good Hope to the communities is undertaken.

"The time for bickering is over. It is time for us to unite and end crime and terror in our province," added Mr Rasool.
