Statement by ANC Western Cape leader Ebrahim Rasool on the resignation of ACDP leader Micheal Louis

14 February 2001

"It was clear Micheal Louis has been unhappy for some time now with the treatment of the DA on a provincial and local level.

"It is a pity that he did not take guidance from his members in the Boland area who were directly in touch with the situation on the ground.

"We believe that the leadership team in the Boland District Council will best be able to serve the community speed up transformation.

"Although we were not always on the same side of the political fence, the ANC will definitely miss the contribution he has made in the Western Cape Provincial Legislature.

"It is a pity he has decided to leave at this point in time. We hope he will continue to contribute to nation-building.

"On behalf of myself and the ANC members in the Provincial Legislature, I wish him well with his future."
