Du Noon alleged Xenophobia - Blatant Da Racism

10 January 2001

The ANC Atlantis Branch herewith expresses its disgust with the blatant racism of the Democratic Alliance and its officials in the Blaauwberg Council.

We refer to the matter of the alleged Xenophobia in Du Noon and the fact that the people affected have been located to Atlantis, which is further from areas such as Milnerton and Table View.

Miley Desai, ANC Atlantis Branch Executive Committee member and former Blaauwberg Councillor, said:

"It is obvious the DA did not want the black victims in their white areas."

"If that was a white family, they would certainly have been accommodated in the nearest halls and provided adequate security."

"But because it is blacks, the DA and council officials dumped them in the far away poor black township of Atlantis."

"We want to make it clear that everyone is welcome here in Atlantis. But the racism of the DA must be exposed."
