ANC Statement on the passing of Cde Mahlubandile 'Ndlovu' Ndziba

17 November 2015

The ANC in the Western Cape lowers its revolutionary flag as a warm tribute to our beloved comrade Mahlubandile 'Ndlovu' Ndziba, who passed away last week Thursday, after a very long illness that he has endured since 2007.

Ndlovu, as he was popularly known, was a prominent student activist in the late 70's, a member of the outstanding political unit called Vulindlela Drama Group, later to play a role in what would be known as the Red Meat strike.

In 1983 he became a founder of the Cape Youth Congress (which later became Youth League). Ndlovu would play a key role in facilitating the movement of members into exile and those who would cross back. He would became a founding member of UDF and RMC (Release Mandela Campaign).

Ndlovu became a member of the New Peace Force (NPF) between 1992 and 1993 and was later integrated to the SANDF in 1994 as a rank corporal. He served the SANDF, rising up the ranks, until he became a Sergeant Major.

In 2007, Ndlovu got ill and he had to scale down on most of his duties. He however remained an active member of the MK. He was a member of the ANC Ward 45 China Talakumeni Branch, and served the ANC there expecting no reward but to see the living conditions of his community improve.

Mahlubandile 'Ndlovu' Ndziba, you have done more than could be expected of one man, thank you for your service.
